Self-respect and ego are terms very close to each other. Both of them are related to self – the way we look at ourselves, the way we value us and the way we expect value from others. To explain in simple,
Imagine we have nothing… no money, no home, no food. What would we need the most to survive?
Food or money which can buy everything else needed to survive.
So for money, do we steal it?
NO… That's self-respect.
Do we beg money?
NO… That's ego.
Do we borrow it from someone?
MAY BE….
Well that's why both self-respect and ego are needed. At times our self-respect and ego prevent us from being our worst.
Self-respect is the proverbial mirror in which we look at ourselves. And ego is how we imagine others looking at us.
